Empowering African families and orphans since 2010

The Charitable Coalition for African Empowerment is comprised of eight non-profits that focus on clean water, health, education, income generation, and agriculture. Those projects, involve collaborative fundraising and grant efforts, and they are holistic and self-sustaining. Collectively, the non-profits reach 20 African countries. Below is a story of Uganda.

In January, or possibly February, Outreach Uganda plans to kick off a a sustainable income-generation Moringa oil and shea nut oil project in Agwata, Uganda. This project will involve the purchase of a cold press that will press Moringa seed pods as well the  shea nuts  for oil, At that time, it will also purchase a generator to run the press. Moreover,  both those oils will be sold to a Uganda company that sells its oils to cosmetic  companies the United States and Europe.  Below are some pictures of that company’s Moringa farm in Masindi, Uganda where some of the Outreach Uganda Agwata staff members recently visited.

Additionally, a group of Agwata community farmers have already pledged to build a structure to house and protect the oil pressing machine and to make sure this structure is secure and cannot be vandalized.  They have also pledged to develop a system to make sure that all community members using the machine will be charged or contribute enough money to cover the costs of operating the machine. The three main costs are expected to be: maintenance and repairs, fuel for the generator and payment to someone to operate the machine.

Currently, the community team is working on identifying the location to place the pump and generator and will then work on having the structure completed by the end of January
